Electronic music, for as long as I can remember, has always been something that has been quite foreign to most countries outside of Europe.  Due to the controversial notion that because no instruments generally are used to produce the songs, that it’s not real “music”.  Fortunately that view has begin to change at a pace in which electronic music is beginning to overtake other more conventional kinds of music in terms of ticket sales, thereby creating some of the largest music festivals on the planet.

Which brings me to Ultra Music Festival (UMF).

Taking place during the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida, UMF has been around since 1999, and was during that time a 1 day festival.  Since then beginning in 2006, it expanded into a 2 day event and later in 2010, turned into a massive 3 day festival with somewhere around 150,000 attendees.  It’s widely known as the premier electronic music festival of the United States in which most of the worlds finest DJ’s come to take over Miami for the duration of the Winter Music Conference.

Regardless of how you feel about electronic music, there is simply no denying the monumental influence it is beginning to have on the music industry.  It’s hard to ignore something so huge, especially when it has a presence at such awards events like the Grammy’s.  Take note, electronic music is here to stay.
